Redshoe Dance is based along the South Coast and was founded in 2010 by Charlotte Honour BA Hons.

Charlotte trained at Laban Conservatoire for Contemporary Dance where she also had the opportunity to train for a period of time in America at the Martha Graham School and the Alvin Ailey studios, New York.

Her time there influenced her style of movement and learning process. Other influences come from Rambert Dance Company, Pina Bausch, Random Dance Company and Limon.

Since returning from her time at Laban, Charlotte found that the whole contemporary world – freedom of movement, had yet to reach the south of the country. Television programmes such as So You Think You Can Dance, Britain’s Got Talent and Got To Dance have created an interest in an otherwise unknown genre of dance.

"Dance like there's nobody watching, love like you'll never be hurt, sing like there's nobody listening, and live like it's heaven on earth.”

William W. Purkey
Charlotte believes contemporary dance to be:

‘A modern art form expressed through creativity of movement.

It can tell a story.
It can portray a meaning.
It can be an expression.’

Based on a strong ballet discipline, which is necessary for the demands of Contemporary, Charlotte wishes to create an experience accessible to students where they can, have fun with dance, express themselves, gain confidence and use this confidence whilst learning to interact in a creative environment.
"To touch, to move, to inspire. This is the true gift of dance."   Aubrey Lynch
